Baseball, Trolleys and Science Fiction Fans?
There's a strange dichotomy between baseball and science fiction fans. It seems that when there is a game on near a convention, a migration happens. This time, it even includes sunshine!
The San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants will be playing a 3-game series Friday-Sunday, June 30-July 2. The easiest way to Petco Park is by trolley (~45 minute ride), and behold! There's a station directly behind the convention hotel.

20 seats are still available in Section 327, Row 1 Seats 6-12 and Rows 2/3 Seats 4-12. Price is $24 per seat. Tickets will be available for pick-up from the ConOps room or Sandra Childress on Friday before 5pm. If you need special arrangements, please contact Sandra at: sandra.childress@gmail.com.

Blood Drive
The Heinlein Society, in conjunction with the San Diego Blood Bank is pleased to present the Robert Heinlein Memorial Blood Drive.
The Drive will be at the Convention, on Sunday July 2nd, from 11am through 4pm.
This year, each blood donor will receive gifts from the San Diego Blood Bank, and there will also be premiums from the Heinlein Society and the convention committee.
Let's continue the "Pay it Forward" tradition that Robert Heinlein originated. With all the catastrophes that happened last year, all Blood Banks are extremely low on blood supplies. Please plan to donate blood at Conzilla. Sign up for the drive now by e-mailing blood-drive@conzilla.info.
Concerts/Filk
Conzilla will have concerts and Filk rooms available.
Conzilla is pleased to announce that Heather Alexander will perform a concert.
Dances
There will be several dances at Conzilla:
- The inestimable John Hertz will teach and dancemaster a Regency Dance.
- Lynx will DJ the Buttonhead Ball, a Techno/Industrial Dance honoring the worlds of Walter Jon Williams.
- Scott Beckstead will DJ a Rock and Roll Dance
- Vintage Dance! The San Diego Vintage Dancers, will be coming to the Pavilion at the Mission Valley Marriott Friday, June 30th, for a evening of dance from the age of Jazz
Dinosaurs: Reel and Robotic
There is a special Dinosaur Exhibit at the San Diego Natural History Museum.

Fantasy Iron Chef
Walter Jon Williams will be The Chairman in a Fantasy Iron Chef
cookoff! Teams of chefs, Hungry Judges, One Chairman and cooking mayhem in the quad.
Secret ingredients and fast paced cooking commentary. A recipe for the
Fannish Iron Chef. Be there or be square.

Fannish/Fantasy Iron Chef will be Monday 2:00pm-5:00pm in the Quad. The Quad is
the area between the Rio Vista Pavilion and the main function space.

There will be open gaming
Masquerade
Conzilla will have a Masquerade Costume Competition at 8:00pm Monday. See the preliminary Rules and contact Sandra Manning for more information.
Robots Running Rampant!
Teams will build robots to compete in various challenges!
A three day event!
Day One: using an RC car, build a robot, then compete in Robot Sumo!
Day Two: Rebuild your robot, converting it into a submarine!
Day Three: Race your submarine!
Please contact Bandit if you would like to compete in the Robots event.
Saturday Cabaret
Please join our convention mascot Conrad T. Lizard in the Lizard Lounge on
Saturday Night for his nightclub act and meet the guests roundup! Conrad
will sing some great standards and a special song debuting at Conzilla.
Sample the green drinks at the no-host bar, and stay for the dance after
the show! Curtain time is 7:00pm, dark Tuesday.
Westercon Site-Selection
Two bids for 2008 File! Conzilla has received bid paperwork for Phoenix in 2008
and Las Vegas in 2008!
The Site-Selection Ballot (.pdf format/.doc format) is available for printing.
Site-Selection Hours: Noon-6pm, Saturday and Sunday.
Writers Workshop!
Jacqueline Lichtenberg and Prof. Jean Lorrah will conduct a workshop for writers. See the Programming page for details.
